Hello from Holland
Hello everybody,
I am Willem from the Netherlands and I have only just begun with smoking and low and slow cooking. For my birthday I received a ProQ Frontier and I can't wait to have my first session.
Hope to read a lot of good stuff overhere.

Re: Hello from Holland
Hi and welcome Willem.
You may have to file down the probes on your thermometer, where they are crimped to get them to fit through the eyelets.

Hello Mack,
In my case it's the plastic between the wire and the plug that is too big. Do you think that I could file off a bit of plastic without damaging it?

Re: Hello from Holland
Hi Willem,
I'm not familiar with probes with plastic covers, so not sure what to advise. I use Maverick Redi-Chek Et-73 thermometers http://www.smokingbbq.co.uk/product/Redi-Chek%C2%AE__Wireless_Remote_Smoker_Thermometer_ET-73

Hello Mack,
Sorry that I didn't replied to you sooner but have been quite busy in my house.
With the plastic I didn't mean a plastic cover on the probe but plastic where the "plug" is connected to the wire. Perhaps I could take some of that away so that that could fit.
With file down the probe, do you mean that I should take away some aluminium from the probe itself? Don't you think that that would do something to the temperatures that the probe measures?

Re: Hello from Holland
Hi Willem,
You need to file off a bit of the metal, on the probe, where the actual probe is crimped onto the wire. The actual working part of the probe is only a small bit right at the end.
You shouldn't need to touch the plastic part.
Please see the image below... where the arrow is pointing, is where it needs to be filed slightly.

Re: Hello from Holland
Hi Mack,
I made some pictures of the eyelits and it seems that there is a little block in the way of both eyelits that prevents the probe from getting through.
Can I easily file or bend some of that block without damaging the eyelit?
Regards,
Willem

Re: Hello from Holland
Made it work!!
I used a big nail to remove the block. After that I got the part that you mentioned before loosen with a pincer. Now the probe fits through the whole. I just had to crimp the probe back again to avoid the wire to come loose. The only thing is that the probe cannot go out now but maybe that will be solved after I have borrowed a file from my father.
Thanks for your help Mack.
