Hi. I am a retired old man living in the depths of Wales. I have been smoking my own food for a few years now (particularly salmon) using a home made version of the Luhr Jensen 'Little Chef' smoker. Sadly the heating element is beginning to give up the ghost (it works occasionally) and I cannot find a replacement. Although I made the smoker myself, I bought parts of it - including the 240 volt heating element - when I was in North Carolina several years ago. Can anyone guide me to a source for a suitable 240 volt, 200/250 watt heating element?

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Have you tried a electical spares shop, they might have the old spiral type of hob element that may work?

Yes - I've tried everywhere I can think of. The problem seems to be that most heating elements have a much higher wattage than I require. I only want 200 - 250 watts and most are in the 2000+ range. Eventually I may have to get one from U.S.A and buy a suitable transformer to step the voltage from 110v to 240v. But I will keep trying - after all I already have one but it is geting old!
