Wet Weather smoking

Post  Novice on Fri May 16, 2008 8:08 am

The plan is for ribs & chicken on Sunday, it looks like it may be raining, is this a no go, or does the Frontier work ok in the rain? (I guess my wife will have brolly duties when I tend to the grub).

I often cook on my Frontier in the rain, not ideal to be honest, buts that's because I'm allergic to getting drenched.
The hardest part is getting the fire started and the unit set up, but once that's done you should be fine, with only the odd dash outside to baste or add some wood chips.

I don't think I'll do it in heavy rain, but if it's sunshine & showers I'll have a go. (Got the ribs & chicken ready for Sunday).
I'm going to try out some of the Ribber City sauce & rub (you supplied Ian) on the ribs, I checked on their web site, the thinner sauces are oil & vinegar based & are that way by design, so I'm looking forward to the taste test Smile

The frontier works just fine in the rain. the thing you will find is the temps do not come up as high as normal because the rain cools the outside of the cooker... Done a couple comps in the rain with the frontier and faired rather well thank you very much...
