Hot water tank jacket
got my excel 20 over the summer, and haven't used it as much as i'd have liked to. however, we're moving to a property which is going to make using it much easier shortly, but i have a feeling the mercury is about to plummet, especially in the peak district.
i'm worried about getting it up to temperature and holding it without burning 5kg of fuel every 10 mins, so was wondering if anyone has used a hot water tank jacket around it in the winter months?

Re: Hot water tank jacket
Run mine all through the winter, even in the snow, uses slightly more charcoal, but don't have a problem getting up to temps. Wind is the biggest killer of heat, so make sure it's in a sheltered spot.

first firing up since moving today. 5lb lump of pork shoulder (morrisons half price offer) and a couple of racks of ribs. bbq sitting at a rock steady 224 using the water pan 3/4 full.
not cold outside really yet though (60F).
toying with the idea of doing the christmas turkey on the bbq this year too. no smoke, just low and slow cooking which worked really well when i used the slow oven from an aga once.
