Urgent Notice!

Post  Admin on Mon Aug 25, 2008 10:11 am

We have had some issues with the legs on the Excel 2O's collapsing.
We have designed a new leg which is much stronger and these should be ready within the next couple of weeks.
I do aplogise for any inconvenience that this may have caused and assure you that we are hard at work trying to rectify the situation.

Please could anyone who has purchased an Excel 20 contact me on ian@probbq.co.uk giving me your full postal address, so that I can arrange to have the new legs sent out to you. Any pictures regarding this problem would also be appreciated.
Pictures showing the new leg design under test are below:

Seems like over kill to me Ian.. How can you have 500 lbs of meat in the excel.. no matter how you cut it. slice it or dice it you just cant have that kind of weight in the cooker..

I got to wonder how the cooker legs would fail... But that is just me wondering to myself. Out loud as it were.

Glad to see you are addressing the situation though, I would expect nothing less from you my friend.

I have noticed that the screws holding the original legs on tend to loosen over time. I'm thinking of using a set or repair/fender washers to spread out the weight and stainless nuts and bolts to secure them. What do you think?

i have the same problem, i mounted the bottom legs, all the bolts as tight as possible without stripping, and covered in loctite, now all my legs are loose and im debating between drilling them out and putting bigger bolts in, or just putting some washers in and trying again...frustrated, what to do?
