Walnut Wood for better smoke?

I can't say that I'm total newbie, but have just bought new masterbuilt and huge package of walnut and apple wood from local store (ecowoodbbq.com/walnut-wood-chips-15-kg-bulk) to make great bbq on this weekend with my family. I have already read many different comments about bitter taste and smell after smoking walnut tree and am disappointed, to be honest. I've also read about mixing fruit tree with walnut to get a better smoke. Could you suggest or advice anything? Maybe you have any recipe kept on eye? Thanks in advance, hope to hear from you soon.
