Making woodchips last longer

Post  Andy_R on Sat Aug 14, 2010 9:42 pm

Does anybody have any good tips for making wood-chips smoke longer.

I have a smoke box which I use in my Frontier, placed directly on the coals (I use coconut briquettes) but find that a small handful of wood-chips get burnt out fairly quickly even though I soak them thoroughly before use. They tend to stop smoking after about 30 minutes. Is this normal and how often show I add a handful more.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy, 30 mins is about right, I wouldn't bother with soaking the wood chips.
Try wrappy a handful of chips in some tinfoil, poke 1 small hole in it and toss it onto the charcoal.

Glad the amb worked out well for you Smile
