Cold smoke generator used with heat cooking?

I smoke with an electric smoker that works great except for generating enough smoke. The unit is well insulated and the heating element does not heat often enough to heat the sawdust that I use for smoking. I usually cook at temps from 225 F to 275 F. Could I get a Pro Q cold smoke generator and place it in the bottem of my smoker and get the smoke results that I am looking for. Thanks
