charcoal quality

charcoal quality

I used some charcoal from a well known shop on the weekend and it was not very good at all ,I have noticed there is a difference in quality of charcoal from the big stores,has anyone noticed this .Which do you think is the best for quality and value for money.

I'll second that ... I tried different charcoal and then found cocoshell briquettes - haven't used anything different since!

Briquette quality issues

I am smoking a pork butt at the moment and my briquettes from the co-op are next to useless!
Are these cocoshell one expensive guys?

Around 7 for 5kg is what I pay.
You can find them online here:

(I've not used that company by the way, just found them on a google search).

Or I recently found them at a local garage!!
