What's cooking this weekend
Afternoon all,
With the weather supposed to be nice (not raining) all weekend, I wondered if anyone else would be firing up their smokers and what you were all cooking?.
I've got a few hours cleaning the BBQs tomorrow, and then hoping to nip to the butchers on Sunday and pick something up.
Maybe a rack of ribs, or maybe even a chicken - but I don't have a temp probe so maybe wait on the chicken until I have a way of testing it's done
Cheers
Jonesey.

I've got a nice leg of lamb I'm about to prep for tomorrow, I've just logged on looking for some ideas for it!

Have the in-laws around, so we're smoking a whole chicken...

Re: What's cooking this weekend
This weekend was a rack of spare ribs, and some sausages. I love the butcher's sausages, but I wish that he knew the difference between spares and baby backs. I'm *not* a fan of spare ribs. Off to the meat market during the week to get some *proper* BBQing cuts.

Re: What's cooking this weekend
I had a weekend of grilling, but not the general ... if I remember correctly (beer was involved) we had:
Directors Sausages (an award winning sausage from our local butcher)
Chipolatas (for my little girl!!)
Pork Kebabs
Chicken Kebabs
Pork Steaks with garlic and sweet chilli
Serloin Steaks
All was great ... had no time for smoking this weekend unfortunately as the hot weather brought with it an increase in my other hobby (pipe organ playing) as I had a Wedding and a gift day to play for!!!

Re: What's cooking this weekend
sounds like you had a busy weekend playing your organ and grilling. Thinking of locally made sausages has got me all hungry.
We were down in Tongham on Saturday having a warm up for next weekend's competition, so it was a day of brisket, pork butt, ribs and chicken all cooked up competition style. I think some of the people down there developed a pretty good smoke ring from sitting in the sun too long as well and everyone was pretty well marinaded in beer.

Re: What's cooking this weekend
Indeed it was a busy weekend ... wondered when I'd get the 'playing with my organ' joke ... glad you didn't dissapoint
I'd love to try the Pork Butt, briskett, and figure out just why I can't cook good ribs any more (I've never tried the 3-2-1 before) ... you don't run courses do you???
I'll supply the homemade sausages when you sort out the date for the course!!!!

Re: What's cooking this weekend
If you're free at the weekend you should pop down to Tongham and chat to the competition teams, there are some fantastic rib cookers there and everyone's really open about discussing how they cook all the different categories. I'd be happy to share everything I know but there are better cooks around than me
