sealing between stackers

Post  smoke51 on Wed Feb 03, 2010 6:58 pm

Well ive been looking and looking but cant find a good way to seal the gaps between the stacker sections. They are not huge gaps but i would like to find something to put in them so that all the heat and smoke stays in the smoker all the way to the top vent. And i also want to keep unwanted air from sneaking in to the fire. Has anyone used something like a tadpole seal or something similar that works well and will have some longevity. if i have to replace it once or twice a year thats fine.

thanks for any input

I suspect any gaps you have, may be caused by one or more of the stackers (cooking sections) being out of round.
Try measuring acroos the middle (diameter) to determine if this is the case and then put the stacker on a flat surface (with an old blanket underneath), on it's side and gently push down till you get an even measurment all round.

If you still have problems with gaps then Aluminiun/Tin foil used for cooking can be used to seal up any gaps. I have an ECB (so plenty of gaps) and it works fine for me.
