You probably have seen this before but for those who haven't it may be interesting. It's ratings on a whole bunch of different brands of lump charcoal.

I really wish we could get that choice of charcoal over here.

Our charcoal choices are very very poor.

I don't know what you mean. You can buy B&Q brand charcoal, Sainsburys brand charcoal, Tescos brand charcoal, or no-name brand charcoal from your local garage. If that's not variety enough, you can choose between their lumpwood, their fast-lighting briquettes, or their ordinary briquettes. Loads of choice!

Except it's probably all from the same supplier, and is mostly hopeless.

Has anyone else in the UK tried the "Supagrill" coconut briquettes from CPL? I have, and didn't find them to burn any hotter, or produce any less ash, than normal briquettes.

I too am struggling with charcoal this year....some has had more snap, crackle and pop than rice crispies
