Another BBQ Iron in the Fire...
Hey BBQ Gang,
I think my family believes me to be a bit nutzo (and rightly so in many cases), but I am in the pre-production stage of a new barbeque adventure that I hope to soon share with all my barbque family...an online radio talkshow.
I'll be looking for suggestions of topics, ideas, guests, and reviews of cookers and barbeque 'toys'. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated. The show is called BBQEmergency and will be broadcast online via BlogTalkRadio.com . Though not 'On The Air' as of yet, there are a couple of addresses for the show. If you get a moment to check them out and offer suggestions, it would be appreciated.
Homesite: http://www.BBQEmergency.com (a work in progress...only a couple days old at this point)
Broadcast Site: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/bbqemergency .
I don't yet have a date set for the first show, but will post info as it becomes available.
This idea hit me just this week, so there is still a bit to do before taking the show 'live'. Outside of a close BBQ buddy of mine, you are the first to get even this kind of details. We're setting up a listener forum and MySpace page too. Would love to have listen in when we go live.
Thanks for all your thoughts and ideas!

Nice idea Jim,
A good opener would be to discuss the differences between Grilling and BBqing. Over here the term BBQ is often used when referring to simply cooking outside over coal or gas.
In addition I would touch on the myth that only meat should be cooked on the BBQ.
There is little understanding of the differences.
Just a thought.

Excellent ideas Adie! Thank you! Sounds like it's pretty much the same mindset as over here...BBQ is often interchanged with Grilling...or (even worse) is used as a term for an outdoor party that may, or may not, have barbeque or grilled food. I like the idea of grilling and smoking veggies! In fact, after my cold smoke experiement with cheese a few weeks ago, is when I began thinking of doing a show. A show designed to educate, inform, inspire, and entertain the thoughts and methods of slow smoking, grilling, and perhaps other methods of outdoor cooking.
Thanks so much for your input!

Re: Another BBQ Iron in the Fire...
Thanks Doc, I sure hope so. I did a quick 15 minute show last night to give folks an idea of what's to come and to try and get familiar with the whole interface used for the show.Dr_KY wrote:Looks like another great place to drop in whild surfing.
As the show develops, I want to include info on contests, festivals, and events in your neck of the woods; as well as insight and input from European barbeque champs...Hmmm...wonder where I can look for that info and champ??
Anyway, just a little show that should be a lot of fun. Hope to have your input!
Re: Another BBQ Iron in the Fire...
Hi Jim,
Just tuned in and had a listen to the inaugural show! Sounds great, I have downloaded it to my Itunes, is there a way you can set a subscribe option on it?
Another topic you could cover is the different names we have for foods (Just an interest story) over here we have different names for things like Cilantro - Coriander, Scallions - Spring Onions, Arugula - Rocket and so on.
When I first started with US recipes I had a job on to find the ingredients.
Back to BBQEmergency A subscribe option would be excellent, I'll be tuning in regularly.
Nice one!
