Smaller water pan holder

Post  Treegje on Mon Dec 01, 2008 9:07 am

I have made a smaller water pan holder
with a capacity of 5 litres = 1.32 gallons
same diameter as Charcoal basket

I have tested 2 times now
If you want higher temperature ,but with waterpan this is a way
It makes quickly a difference of 60 F = 35 C
with 2 stackers

I have no flare ups so far, because the waterpan has the same diameter as the charcoal basket

he is not beautifull round,But he is doing his work

What is the advantage of this mod, have you got higher temps due to the gap around the pan?

I got higher temps
It makes quickly a difference of 60 F = 35 C
The reason is the gap around the pan
The heat rises ,and in this place there is no obstruct of the waterpan Very Happy

Great idea, thanks for posting.
I believed the temp issue I was having was due to the diameter of the pan. I will try this.
What did you use to make the holder?
What water pan did you use, a Brinkman?
I have been having better luck with temps by putting it together without the pan until the temps come up, then adding the pan afterwards.

Thanks,
Bill

hello BowtieBill

For the holder,I use a metal bar with the dimensions 10mm/4mm = 0,39inch/0,16inch
and a U profile 26mm/12mm = 1inch/0,47inch
I have used a waterpan of a barbecook ,But every waterpan of +/_ 40 cm/15,76 in diameter will do
Mine is 380mm /15 inch in diameter
http://www.barbecook.com/en/products/smoker-detail.asp

I hope that I can help you guys in this way
