Recipes for a new website
Hi Guys,
I'm busy developing a new website www.macsbbq.co.uk, which will be an information site for ProQ smokers, not an eccomerce site, designed to showcase our products, but also to give as much info to the anyone interested in trying to learn the art of smoking, whether or not they use a ProQ.
I'm looking for input from forum members...
Tips for use - what you've experienced
Recipes - preferably easy to do, with commonly found ingredients (if we decide to use your recipe, you will get credit for it)with as much detail as possible. step by step pics would also be great if you have them lying around
As always, I'd love your feedback on the site, just give me about a week to get most of it done.
Thanks guys
Ian

It's a great idea, & looks good.
Can you lift some of the back catalogue of recipes posted on this site? There are loads of great, inspirational suggestions regularly posted, going right back to the days when the site started. This is always my first reference for everything I do on my smoker.

Re: Recipes for a new website
Just one suggestion (though it is a selfish one), make the recipes printable, it's much easier to use 'mid cook'

Re: Recipes for a new website
I'm not comfortable posting other peoples recipes from the forum, without their permission.
What format would you like the printable version in, would Pdf do?

Re: Recipes for a new website
Mack, you have permission to use all of my stuff and pics anytime.
I´ll take care to do some more step by step instructions on my following cooks.
Cheers,
DM

Mack,
I think it would be wonderful to also include videos to show some step-by-step action as well. Some of us love the video version of eye candy! A lot of rubs and sauce recipes would be wonderful also. I have to ask though, what would be the true difference from your current forum?

Re: Recipes for a new website
Thanks Treegje, really appreciate it!
Jenks, alot of people go onto the site and will print info off there, but for some reason some people can't get on with forums, so we intend to offer both sources of information.

Re: Recipes for a new website
Hay Ian,
Thinking Outloud
Why don't you make this seasonal, we have a multinational membership could you do a Christmas/Thanksgiving/Hanukkah/Eid etc Recipe from all over the globe?
The special occasion dish? I for one would happily embrace other traditions over a beer, hot charcoal and some good wood shmokin away.

Re: Recipes for a new website
I do have a couple but not really documented.
I will try to get one put together for the site.

Re: Recipes for a new website
Should you want to use anything I have posted, please feel free, (Just don't blame me if it kills someone!). As far as printing, PDF is fine, just don't make it massively ink heavy. Some websites have a 'print this page' option that will give an easily printable version that does not use all the ink in your printer, if i was to screen print your new web page, my printer would need an ink intravenous drip due to the black background.

So just a text file with no images then?
Re: Recipes for a new website
A printable text document, or PDF is great, images are fine as long as they are not massive & the overall background is white (but especially not all black). Hey the new site looks great, don't let my selfish requests slow you up!

Re: Recipes for a new website
Have a look at this as an example of a print friendly site
There is a little 'print this page option that gets rid of the stuff you don't want on your printout.
