BBQ Snoot?

Post  ILBBQS.com on Tue Aug 05, 2008 1:01 am

Anyone here ever have BBQ Snoot???

It's a pretty regionalized food over on this side of the pond...mostly around the St. Louis, Missouri section of the U.S. There is a joint about an hour from my house that has 'Snoot Sandwich' on their menu...I have been wanting to try it out for sometime, but everytime I went by their place they were either closed or sold out. I was told by the owner that they sell out every day they're open, and I should call ahead to reserve a sandwich if I wanted to try it.

I called. I reserved. I video documented the experience.

Check it out...

Let me know what you think!

DUDE!!!!!!!!! That is a excellent video!!!! The food there is just the way I like it clean honest cuts, sauced and on basic white bread. It gets no better than good ol home made cookin!
Thanks for going out and bringing me a little closer to home. Cool ( BTW I have been wearing those same Ray Bans since 1988)

Uncle Huffy is a really nice guy and serves up some decent food. Amber (his daughter) is a little honey too, eh?!?!

Laughing LOL...I've had these same Ray-Bans since the mid-90's....LOVE 'EM! I had two pairs, but one pair got dropped in the burnt coal pan about a year ago...melted them to a Ray-Ban Pancake. Embarassed Oops.

I think I'm gonna be headed out on another Rhino Road Trip this Thursday to see the charcoal-being-made process. Stay tuned!

I love it!

Reminds me of home also. Any word on where "snoot" comes from?

Well, the general concensus is that it is the cheek portion of the pig. Wikipedia.com offers the following:

"Crispy snoots" are yet another popular entree. This term refers to barbecued pig cheeks, which are a tender and fat-rich cut of pork. Crispy snoots gained popularity in the multi-cultural ethnic communities of south St. Louis." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis-style_barbecue#cite_note-5 (Cited from: http://chitterlings.com/cgi-bin/chit_index.cgi?noframes;read=51159)

Snoot just sounds more interesting than 'cheek'. Smile
