Solingen Cutlery (Germany)
Just found a nice big knife for sale that is made by "Solingen Cutlery - Solingen Germany". I've never heard of this brand, does this company make decent knives?
Thanks for your help!

Re: Solingen Cutlery (Germany)
Beware !
Solingen ( the city) is germanys knife forging capital and usually stands for very high quality knifes.
Knifes from Solingen are usually marked "Made in Solingen", wich is a trademark.
Zwilling, Wüsthof and Henkels knifes are produced there,
There is no actual "Solingen" or "Solingen Cutlery" brand, though, but
theres a lot of cheapo knockoffs of german knifes with fake brands like "Solingen" or "Solingen Quality".
Those are marked with a very high price but are offered for a way lower price to make you think its a bargain.
They are sold single or as a set in a suitcase wich makes a good first impression but believe me, the best thing out of those
sets is usually the suitcase.
Heres a pic of one of those sets :
They come in different varietys.
Make sure you buy the knife at a dealer you can trust.

Re: Solingen Cutlery (Germany)
Thanks DM! I have several Wüsthof knives, but had never seen the Solingen Cutlery brand. Here's the link for the knife... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=230261953528Don Marco wrote:Beware !
