1st Pizza on the grill
I did my 1st pizza on the grill yesterday, Ive been making pizza's for while but only ever been cooked in an oven. Unfortunately the batteries on the camera ran out just before the cheese went on which also meant I could'nt get any pics of it on the grill, so you will just have to use your imagination, however it did look real good.
The pizza came out very well, I used slightly too much wood chips though which made it a bit salty. I'd say I used just over a cup full. Next time I'll try about a quarter of a cup just to give it a slightly smokey flavour. Either way I will never cook a pizza in oven again, in fact I hav'nt used the oven since I got my grill.
Billie Jean cleaning the charcoal great
Dough and toppings ready to go
Billie Jean adds the finishing touches, and thats when the batteries died

Re: 1st Pizza on the grill
D'OH! I hate when the batteries go dead! The pics look really good though; and the pizza looks to be well on it's way to yumminess.
Curious...why would too many wood chips make the pizza salty?

Well I put the saltiness down to the wood chips ? the smoke was a bit too over powering and I make this pizza recipe regular. So I just I guess it must be the chips. Maybe somebody else has had a similar experience ?

Hmmm...I've oversmoked a turkey...turned the skin a nasty shade of DARK brown and made the skin very bitter; though don't remember if it was saltier or not (My therapist says I need to remove that memory in order to move on in my quest for Excellent 'Que)...In the likely event I get overzelous with the wood chips again, I'll try to be more mindful of the results.
