Complete Package
Hi, I'm a complete novice & am working out my first smoker purchace, after visiting your St. Austel store earlier this week I am thinking about one of the proq models over the weber or chargriller smokers. I want a complete package so I can start the day i receive the goods. I notice you have a deal on the Buckaroo, so what is the difference between this with a stacker & the frontier as an outfit. With this, wood chips, coals, chicken rack, meat probe thermometer, (marinade?), rib rack & charcoal starter (& recipe book?). Have I missed anything, any advice would be welcome.

Re: Complete Package
Hi and welcome to the forum Novice.
I'm sure the other members would be able to give you an unbiased opinion on all the various makes of smokers that you mentioned, but for specific product details, it would probably be best done on the phone.
A few things that I deem as essential items to start smoking with:
Other useful stuff, but not essential:
Marinade Injector
Smoking Basket
Chicken Rack
Rib Rack

A few things that I deem as essential items to start smoking with:
- Charcoal Chimney Starter - for getting the charcoal started and for topping up during long cooks
- Probe thermometer - To test the meat for doneness
- Wood chips/ chunks - for smoke
- Charcoal - A good quality lumpwood (hard to find in the UK, but some people do sell "Restaurant" grade charcoal), or the best I've found is the briquettes made from coconut husks.
- Mitts - Good quality (leather are best)
- Tools - A good pair of tongs, make that 2 pairs
Other useful stuff, but not essential:
Marinade Injector
Smoking Basket
Chicken Rack
Rib Rack

Re: Complete Package
Welcome, GIve Ian a call to discuss the various differences so you can get the right one for your needs. If your budget can handle it, you may want to consider the Excel model. One thing that all can attest to is once you get started you will never have "all that you need", and you will keep buying and adding gadgets, books, new smokers, etc.
Another thing to consider is to have a few good sharp knives.
Most of all, have fun!

Al I come from Zimbabwe, a very fine country, with beautiful people (except 1). Temps in the town we lived in averaged around 35 C in summer, if it dropped below 15 C, people started to freeze
Re: Complete Package
I thought it would have been a bit warmer than that there ? I know what your saying though.
