1st cook on my Excel 20 - temp gauge seems way out
I am loving my new excel 20. Did a whole free range chicken from my local butcher covered with my basic rub.
I would post a pic but as a new member i am not allowed until next week.
Had issues with the temp gauge in the lid though which showed much cooler then my ET73.
I swapped it for the gauge off my ugly drum smoker and it showed pretty much the same as the ET73
Is this normal or should I return the gauge for a more accurate one?

Looks like you can calibrate them:

Re: 1st cook on my Excel 20 - temp gauge seems way out
Thanks for the link.
The problem is that the instructions refer to a second nut on the back of the gauge but all I have is the nut and washer that secured the gauge to the lid - no second nut or any way to adjust the needle.
I have an instant boiling hot water tap which produces water at a consistent 99 degrees centigrade but if I stand the gauge in it it barely gets above 80.

Oh, well, in that case it does sounds like it probably needs replacing....
