Dust for use in CSG

Post  nwaring on Thu Mar 15, 2012 8:03 am

Hi,

I've been using my CSG for a while now and have had some great results.

I've got a source of Apple wood logs and want to use these to make dust to burn in the CSG.

As a first attempt I used an electric planer, the resulting shavings and dust did burn, but I ended up having to re-light a number of times.

I was wondering whether anyone had any tips for creating your own dust.

Thanks

Nick

I have no direct experience of this, but from what I have read, I believe you may have better luck if you dry the dust/shavings out first in a domestic oven, at low heat for a while. No idea what heat and how long, but you can experiment!
