Hello all,
just wanted to say hi to everyone and ask for a bit of advice :] After years of BBQing I have decided to try smoking my own food and just bought ProQ Maverick Deluxe BBQ [should be delivered tomorrow] and I deifneteley firing it up this weekend! I have had quite few BBQ's but after just 1 year its always same problem... burnt out bottom, so i am hoping I made a right choice as it mentions double steel bottom to prevent that. Anyone had any experience with this type of BBQ Smoker? Good choice?

Can also someone mention common first timer mistakes I should know when it comes to smoking food?
Should I soak wood chips for this tipe of smoker and do you place them directly onto hot charcoals or wrap up in foil or box it up?
