Arduino controlled smoker...
Just wondered if anyone had tried using their maverick temperature probes with an Arduino? There look to be a good few webpages listing how to do this - the following looks pretty straightforward:
http://hruska.us/tempmon/
I like the idea of being able to leave the house for a few hours but still have access to temperature details. It would also be interesting to graph and record cook times.
I've got most of the parts I need so will put one together in the coming weeks. I'll post some pictures if it works out ok.

Managed to get the Maverick probes hooked up to the Arduino and a webpage served up with temperatures. Not had too much time to look at this of late. However, I'm hoping to have an LCD hooked up soon - will post some pics shortly.

Re: Arduino controlled smoker...
Finally got around to trying out the new gadget. Just smoking this years crop of Jalapeno's so not quite a full test as I'm not using the meat probe.
Some pictures:
Seems to be working fine. I still need to update the code so that it displays slightly differently (as I'm not using a fan/blower at the moment). I'm also grabbing the temperature readings every 10 seconds so I can graph progress.

Re: Arduino controlled smoker...
Just an arduino uno with an ethernet shield attached. Not keen on wireless, always a bit flaky at my house and I've a network point next to where I BBQ - hence the ethernet shield.
I modified the code from here to work with the ethernet shield instead of wireless.
I just re-used my maverick probes and hooked up a Serial LCD Display - all reasonably straightforward.
