Fallen apple tree wood
Hi to all and knowledgable.I am new to smoking on bbqs, can anyone tell me wether it is ok to use wood from the fallen apple trees in the orchard next door to me.They have been laying around for years and well dried. The wood is a reddish colour inside when I have cut it to investigate. If this can be used Iwill never have to buy chips ever again. The wood has no smell to it,is that just because it wont till it is burning??
There is tons of the stuff laying about, great if you think it would be okay to use.

Re: Fallen apple tree wood
Hi Jag1 and welcome to the forum.
You can use the wood, but I would recommend that you remove the bark 1st as the bark is where all the bugs/ insects live producing a bitter smoke flavour.
Ps. If you had posted this in the New to Smoking/ BBQ Help section, you may have got an earlier response.
