Hi All Weather Griller
The grass came from our own garden ,Behind our little garden house
It is not from a farm ,You never know which plants are able to sit between the hay

Re: Chicken with hay
Hi Treegje,
I've never seen this done...interesting. Is the grass/hay a particular variety? i.e. Lemongrass or something of the sorts? The chicken looks great! Thanks.

A friend of mine has challenged me to do something with hay on the bbq/smoker( I love challenges )

Re: Chicken with hay
Hey Treegje
There is a recipe for ham cooked in hay in this recipe book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nose-Tail-Eating-British-Cooking/dp/0747572577
Its not a smoker recipe but I thought you might like it anyway.
And to save you the trouble of buying the book here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
lots of hay
10 juniper berries
14 peppercorns
10 cloves
6 bay leaves
a leg of uncooked ham
Method:
1. Make a base of hay in a large pot.
2. Sprinkle on all spices and bay leaves.
3. Put ham on top of hay.
4. Cover with another load of hay.
5. Fill with water to the top of the hay.
6. Simmer really low until the ham is tender. Should take about 3.5 to 4.5 hours.
7. Eat ham, don't eat hay.
It is a really good recipe book though too.

I would guess adding some other herbs would make for some interesting flavors too._________________
