My First Pics of Beer Butt Chicken!
Everyone,
This is my first attempt at posting pics, so bear with me. I decided to cook a Cornish hen for the wife and I. I also used a different charcoal for the first time, with has a lot of differences from my usual brand (Kingsford Charcoal). I used Royal Oak for this cook and can tell you it had some differences. I had to get used to using MORE charcoal for this cook, but also found that the inherent smoke it produced was not a bad experience. You can tell it was made from oak wood, by the smoke it produced. I'm used to adding smoke to the cook, so this was a nice change and I look forward to trying it again in the future.
How the charcoal looked before I put the baked beans and Cornish hen in the smoker

Added the baked beans in the bottom stacker

Placed the hen on the cooker, after a good, cold bath

That's my wife basting it with a local mixture of seasoning, butter and olive oil.

Seasoned and ready to go!

This is the size wood chunk (cherry) placed in the coals

Look at that smoke go!

End result

Made a lot of juice in the bottom of the plate. What a taste!
