Howdy folks...

Heres a new toy that i brought home from the SPOGA trade show last week.

Its an electric charcoal lighter from sweden.

So far, all the electric devices didnt convince me but his one was love at first sight.

I used it a couple of times so far with different types of lump and a small woodfire. You can also use it to light charcoal briquettes or your oven/fireplace.

Its very convenient, works fast, doesnt blow up the ashes and also has an integrated ...

You put the sawdust in the unit, scrape it evenly across it and then light it with a small candle. After 30-60 seconds you can remove the candle ...

I have all the necessary to do the first cook with the new beast (ProQ Excel, the 20" version of the Frontier). Unfortunately, I didn't get the extra stacker that I needed to do the suckling pig with, so that cook will have to wait. I'll be popping down to the butcher later on, to see what he has to offer... I already have a digital thermometer but I have to pass it through the top vent because the area where the wire is crimped to the probe is too large to fit through the holes... . Don't want to have to buy the ET73 and have to do the same thing.

Howdy folks...

Its always the same...everytime i fire up my WSM it turns out to be too small, even with the stacker.

I guess this is a problem that bites 99 % of all watersmoker users.

I tried many things to solve this problem and every time i failed miserably :

Tried to pump it up with an air pump. Boy that did suck...

Attempted a controlled explosion inside. Woke uop the neighbours and the lid almost shot down a space shuttle...

I even tried to fertilize ...

Although the weather was a bit dicey, I had the urge to cook something... had a few Mackerel and some Sardines in the freezer, so I thought that this would give me a good opportunity to test it as a smoker and a grill...

The Mackerel turned out great! not so for the Sardines (too many bones, so I guess they will be ok pickled).
