Hi from Hamburg Germany
Hi,
I'm from Hamburg, Germany (I hope you can understand my poor English) and am quite new to smoking. After my first (frustrating) steps using a Barbecook smoker, I've decided to get a serious smoker. By lacking a bottom vent, the Barbecook didn't allow any temperature control. Therefore we never got to the right temp of about 225°F / 110°C and the PP ended in the kitchen-oven
.
The trade-off between features/benefits and price led me to the ProQ Frontier. The Excel 20 is too large for my needs eventhough 3 bottom vents and thicker walls are tempting.
While scanning the web for dealers I found this offer: http://www.forfoodsmokers.co.uk/acatalog/Proq_Frontier_Food_Smoker.html
Can anyone confirm that this is an "official" ProQ Frontier? I am asking you, because this is the only dealer I can find offering a ProQ Frontier with 3 vents (and different handles). Of courese I prefere the version with "as many vents as possible"
On the other hand I don't want to end uo with another poor smoker...
I would be grateful for any comments on this!
Moe

Re: Hi from Hamburg Germany
Hi Moe,
Welcome to the site, this looks like the real deal, I have the older single vent model & it's fantastic (Though I think I may add more vents at some point).
In the links section, at the bottom of the forum, you will find a few links to other places selling the Pro Q smokers, but I think they are all the older type model.
Whatever you get, new or old model I'm sure you will have a great deal of fun with it.

Hi Moe,
I am pretty sure they are a legitimate dealer, although they do operate from a front room in Guildford ( I used to live just round the corner and still own a house a stones throw away).......... you will be able to get confirmation from Mac on here, i am sure he will respond shortly.......

Hi Moe and welcome to the forum.
They are one of our dealers, but have you tired our German distributor, BBQ Scout, they may have some of the new Frontiers left.

Re: Hi from Hamburg Germany
Thanks guys! I've checked on BBQ-Scout already, but they ran out of frontiers. I will check on the linksections you have mentioned Novice.
I will let you know about the upcoming decision and of course also about the first smoking session!

Hello and Welcome
Welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of great people here with good advice and a vast amount of knowledge.
I have the older Frontier with the single vent. It works pretty well but, I would have picked the new one if I could have.
