Hello from Nottingham, UK
Hello,
I have been lurking here for a while thinking about getting into smoking and am just about to take the plunge and am thinking about getting a Frontier.
However I have a couple of questions which I hope somebody can answer 1. do they now have the three air vents on the bottom? 2. I have seen a couple of photos of smokers on decking (which is all I have) but I am a bit concerned about the fire risk, do people have any suggestions as to what I could use to protect the deck whilst smoking?
Thanks in anticipation for any answers

Welcome Spinner I think the best bet is to head down to Halfords and pick up one of those large driveway drip pans that you place under you car. They are plenty wide and not too expensive.

I'll let Ian (or someone with a Frontier) speak with authority on the Frontier, but I think it only has one vent on the bottom. The new ProQ Excel 20 has three vents and I think is more accommodating with repects to amount of available cooking space. A few extra bucks, but may be worth the extra.

Hi and welcome to the forum Spinner,
The Frontier's come with one vent in the base at present, we may look at bringing some out with 3 in the future, incidentally, I have used my Frontier for 18 months or more with just the one vent and it works for me.
Ash falling out of the vent is not really an issue, but I would suggest either placing a paving stone or drip tray underneath the unit just to be 100% sure.

I've learned to leave the area around the vent free of fuel. It helps keep the air coming in, without being choked by the charcoal.
